
The two cottages sit up behend the old Criterion Hotel, built in
1856 and now a private holiday house. The small settlers cottages have
been beautifully restored and extended.
CRITERION COTTAGE has a sitting room with a
log fire and small twin bedroom. A spacious courtyard/sunroom
joins the sitting room with the dining area and modern kitchen.
A loft bedroom has a balcony overlooking the bay. Bathroom, laundry
and undercover parking completes this delightful cottage, which
sleeps four.
CORNERSTONE COTTAGE has a large sitting room,
kitchen and a garden room looking over a small garden. There
is a double bedroom and two twin rooms, sleeping six altogether.
Firewood, gas heating and plenty of hot water is provided as are sheets, electric
blankets and towels, television and CD player. The kitchen will be stocked
with food for an ample breakfast.
The cottages are in the centre of the old township, near Main Beach, with views
of Guichen Bay, which was discovered by Nicholas Baudin in 1802. A large crayfishing
fleet operates throughout the summer months from the harbour which is a secure
haven for boats of all kinds.
The town has execellent shops and restaraunts. Swimming is safe within the
bay at Main Beach. There are also wonderful and unpopulated ocean beaches and
National Parks. The winter climate is the mildest in the South East of South
Australia.
